Puget Sound ESD in Renton
Every year, the Division of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) at the Department of Labor & Industries, conducts over 4,000 work site inspections, which result in almost 9,000 citations for various violations, imposing millions of dollars in penalties.
Penalties for safety violations will also continue to increase, both as a result of recent changes to DOSH's methodology as well as legislation passed in 2018 and going into effect in June.
At this one-day workshop, join some of Washington's foremost legal experts, safety consultants, and administration officials to explore the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of an employer under the Washington Industrial Safety & Health Act.

Ann Silvernale is a partner in the firm of Holmes Weddle & Barcott, where her practice is limited to the defense of employers, both self insured and state fund under the Washington State Industrial Insurance Act, as well as defense of firms cited under the Washington State Industrial Safety and Health Act. Her practice includes advice to firms at the Department level and litigation before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, Superior Court, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. She also serves as a mediator for Industrial Insurance matters on appeal from Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals Decision and Orders to the Superior Court. Ann is a former member of the Office of Attorney General, and Industrial Appeals Judge, trial judge, and mediation and review judge at the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals.
Jonathan Burr
Holmes, Weddle & Barcott
Jonathan Burr is an Associate Attorney who concentrates on defending employers in the areas of Workplace Safety, Audits and Workers' Compensation. Jonathan assists employers with citations stemming from the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act and provides counseling related to Occupational Safety and Health. Jonathan regularly appears before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and Superior Court, assisting companies doing business throughout Washington. Before entering the legal profession, Jonathan served on active duty in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Analyst and an Infantry Officer.
