Who We Are

For more than 40 years, Washington state's largest and most well-known employers have looked to the Washington Self-Insurers Association for help in keeping employees safe, healthy and working.

Founded in 1972, WSIA educates policymakers, regulators and employers on statewide issues related to workplace safety and workers compensation. Our members include more than 400 major public and private sector employers, such as cities, counties, schools, hospitals, non-profit charities, and some of the state's most visible home-based brands. And the largest industries in Washington state (manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, retail, construction, etc.) are all represented within WSIA's membership.

Self-insured employers rely on WSIA to advocate on their behalf before the Legislature and to work with key state agencies like the Department of Labor & Industries and the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals. We also represent self-employers in the courts, working for a fair and sustainable workers compensation system where both employees and employers can thrive.

Mission Statement
