Note: For those of you who had not heard, at the Business meeting at the May 2010 Annual Conference, the Employer members of the Association voted to change the Bylaws. The Bylaws changes reorganized the Board of Directors to provide for two directly elected Associate members to the nine-member Executive Committee (Vice President at Large – Service Companies, and Vice-President at Large – Associate Members), and appointment of a number of Associate members to other positions on the Board. We believe the changes will make the Board, and the Association, more responsive, more timely and more dynamic to issues that arise.
In order to better coordinate the Association’s priorities and messaging, the new position of Vice President of Education was created. Grace Casey of Valley Medical Center was elected to the position at the May 2010 meeting. She works with the Chair of the Industrial Insurance University Board of Regents Liz Fischer of Sedgwick CMS, Conference Coordinator Patrick Koenig of City of Redmond, and Regional Coordinator Gail Pearson of Coventry in relation to presenting our training, conferences, and regional meetings respectively.
While our training and conference processes have not changed substantially, our regional meeting structure has. We no longer have 6 regions or regional directors. Instead, we have been identifying geographically diverse cities in which to hold regional meetings. When a particular topic is to be presented, meetings will be coordinated in a number of those cities so that as many people as possible can benefit from the presentations. As we have previously, we will also be submitting the content for the regional meetings to the Department of Labor & Industries for Certified Claims Administrator Continuing Education Credits.
