Manager, Workplace Absence Programs (Bellevue, WA)
Responsibilities include: plans, develops, implements, improves and monitors the overall effectiveness of absence programs including disability, workers’ compensation and FMLA.; monitors occupational and non-occupational disability decisions to ensure compliance and that appropriate decisions are made;partners with Safety, Risk Management, Accounting, Payroll and Human Resources departments in the design, implementation and ongoing communication of absence management programs and policies; establishes data benchmarks and tools to identify trends; measures and analyzes absence management cost and utilization; manages disability and workers’ compensation vendor relationships and performance; researches, analyzes and recommends “best practices” for managing absences; works with management and Purchasing to negotiate contracts and renewals with third-party administrators for disability and workers’ compensation; prepares and delivers communications, training, and resource materials for corporate and field use; ensures compliance with federal and state laws and reporting requirements, including tax assessments and annual/quarterly state reports; responsible for monthly processing of loss funding and providing payment reports to each location; maintains/collects loss reports and provides detailed loss runs to each major location. The following skills are required: attention to detail; strong relationship builder; problem solver; excellent analytical skills; customer-focused; decision-maker; organized; strong written/oral communication and presentation skills; strong computer skills (Excel, Word). This position requires 3-5+ years progressive experience; demonstrated workers' compensation and disability management experience; strong experience with self-insured workers' compensation compliance, audits, reporting and state filings; leave management experience (FMLA, state leave laws); proven ability to work well with plant and HR management.
