Quality Educational Programs that Foster Professionalism

At the request of our members, and to meet the needs of those looking for flexibility in scheduling and cost savings in these difficult economic times, WSIA’s Industrial Insurance University has taken our WWCP Designation Program on-line!  Medical Information is now available in the self-study format!

All three courses, Statutory Requirements, Medical Information, and Claims Management are now available in an on-line self-study format.  Registrants will have access to all the materials provided in the live classes, including the recorded videos of speaker presentations.  Registration will be offered on the same quarterly (except summer quarter) basis as the live class.  A proctored final exam will be scheduled at a location near each registrant approximately three months following registration.

Just as with the live WWCP Program, successful completion of all three Self-Study courses earns the registrant the WWCP Designation and Designees will then need to maintain their Designation by completing the required continuing education credits.

About WWCP Self-Study Courses

The WWCP Claims Management course addresses the details of day-to-day workers’ compensation claims, such as effective communication, TTD/LEP calculations, medical management, return-to-work and vocational rehabilitation. The expectation is that individuals attending WWCP courses will have at least 3 years’ experience in the workers’ compensation field.

Each self-study course will cost $555 ($1,665 to complete all three courses). Students are expected to work independently and at their own pace to complete all coursework prior to the scheduled proctored final examination.  There are two sections to the Claims Management final examination – chapter text and calculations.  Students must attain a passing grade of 70% on both portions on the final examination to receive their certificate. The curriculum includes chapter text, recorded speaker presentation videos, chapter review questions, homework assignments, study guides, key questions and calculations practice problems. An individual must attain a passing grade on the exam for each of the three courses to receive the Washington Workers’ Compensation Professional designation.

Student Expectations

You are expected to complete all coursework for all 12 chapters independently on your schedule.  You must complete the work and be prepared to take the final exam.  The final exam will be a proctored exam and you will be notified of the exact date, time and location.  In all cases, everyone registered by the registration close date will take the final exam.

There are no requirements to “turn in” any of your work as this is truly a self-study course.  The Review, Study Guide and Key Questions provide excellent study materials for the exam.   All final exam questions are taken from the chapter text and supplementary information.  A passing score of 70% is required on the final exam in order to pass this course.  Tests will be graded by the IIU Board of Regents and you will be notified of your score via email following the grading process.  Upon successfully passing all three WWCP Courses, Statutory Requirements, Medical Information, and Claims Management, you will earn your WWCP Designation.
