Why Attend WSIA’s Spring Conference?

You asked for it, and you've got it!  As much about the Department of Labor & Industries that you can fit into a one day conference.  Come ask and get your key questions answered in one fell swoop ...

  • What is the SIEDRS project, and why do you have to comply by July 1, 2008?  Will there really be penalties and possible decertification if you don't comply?  When will data be available to start benchmarking our programs?
  • Has the Department figured out initiating claims in ORION?  What functions in the Claim and Accounts Center will be available to self-insurers and our providers?  What functions would we like to have available to us?
  • How difficult is it to find medical providers?  Is this a compensation issue with the fee schedule, or are there other challenges negatively impacting the desire of providers to participate in the system?  What can or is being done to address this?
  • What are your biggest pet peeves or misunderstandings about self-insured audits?  Why do they ask us to respond to issues on audit reports that they haven't sent us yet?  Who makes the final decision on wage issues, auditors or trainers?
  • What's new with the vocational rehabilitation pilot project?  What do the final rules say now?  What is being done to address training?  How will self-insured employers find out if injured workers have been through voc previously?
  • What do the claims teams need to help expedite the processing of our claims?  What assistance can we provide them to get wage orders on our claims?  Who do we go to for resolving issues if the claims team can't answer the question?
  • How does the joint order process for occupational disease claims help self-insurers?  What is being done to resolve the problems when an injured worker files the incorrect claim form (State Fund on a self-insured claim, and vice versa)?

These and lots more questions can and should be posed to the Department.  After all, how often do you have their key people ... the people with the answers ... sitting in the same room?

You definitely don’t want to miss this conference!

Note: The WSIA Spring Conference 2008 qualifies for 5.5 WWCP continuing education credits.  The Department of L & I has awarded 3 Certification CEC's; 1 Legal, 1 Claims Process, and 1 Elective.

All events for WSIA’s Spring Conference are accessible to persons with disabilities, in accordance with ADA requirements.
