What's Covered by the Course?

This course started as an informal study group in December 2006.  As of September 2008, we expanded to a two-day course!   All of the testers who passed the September 2008 Certification Test had taken our review course!  In March 2010, we had our best pass rate ever…with 80% of our attendees passing the test!

Day one will be spent on calculations ... Time Loss, Loss of Earning Power, and Permanent Partial Disability.  Day two on focused on laws, rules, and other general information to help you prepare for the Certification Test.

 

Instructors

Instructors for Day One of the class (September 13th - calculations) will be Liz Fischer of Sedgwick CMS, and WSIA Training Coordinator Bonnie Prater.  Instructors for Day Two of the class (September 14th - policy) will be Kevin Kincade of Berkley Risk Administrators and WSIA Training Coordinator Bonnie Prater.

 

Homework

Students will be required to complete some calculation homework assignments prior to the class.  The homework will be emailed to you a week prior to class with instructions regarding faxing/scanning your answers to the WSIA office.  This will allow the instructor time to grade the homework in advance of class.  To accomplish this, the deadline to register is by 12pm, September 7th.

You will need to bring a calculator with you to class.

Those registered to take the Claims Administrator Exam

on September 15th, 2010 will have first priority to take this course!

Accommodations

** Since the class will not be held at a hotel, we recommend either the Phoenix Inn or the Red Lion for those wishing to stay in Olympia for the duration of class and testing.  Both are within 3 miles/7 minutes of the ESD and 5 miles/12 minutes of  L & I.
