Questions & Answers and Program Wrap-Up

What This Program is About

This presentation will describe how a biomechanical engineer analyzes injuries alleged to have been sustained in a work related accident to determine whether there was an injury mechanism present to have caused the alleged injuries.  When one of your workers is involved in an accident at work and claims injuries as a result, how can you be sure whether the work accident actually caused those injuries and not a prior accident or non-work event?  The answer to that question can have a significant impact on resolution of claims. Attendees will learn about the combination of structural mechanics and biology the biomechanical engineer uses in his analysis.  The presentation will include a discussion of biomechanical analysis techniques, kinematic analysis (understanding how the worker moved during the event), human tolerance, subrogation possibilities, and case studies.  At the conclusion of the presentation, the audience will have an understanding of the role of the biomechanical engineer, the relationship between mechanism of injury and resulting injuries, and how biomechanical analysis may improve the investigation and dispute of questionable claims, resulting in lower claims costs.

Your Presenter

Brad Probst, Senior Biomechanical Engineer, ARCCA Inc.

Mr. Probst specializes  in crash injury analysis, injury mechanism determination and crash kinematics.  Brad practices basic engineering science and biomedical engineering to explore the cause, nature and severity of injuries, utilizing medical records, testing, computer modeling and his extensive knowledge of human injury tolerance to determine whether a claimed injury is consistent with a specific set of actions or exposure to a specific accident environment.

Who Should Attend this Program

EVERYONE interested in improving their injury and illness causation investigations.
