Hello Members!
Our fall training is officially underway. Hope you can all make it to some of our courses! I provided information on all the fall courses in my last column so this month I would like to focus on our Claims Training Series.
Our Introduction to Claims Management course will be held on October 11-12, 2010 at the Radisson Hotel in SeaTac. Our presenters are Craig Bock, Bock Consulting; Patty Hicks, Penser North America; and Lawrence Mann, Wallace, Klor & Mann. Last fall, we presented this introductory course for the first time and received excellent feedback from our attendees. We are happy to present it again this fall. This class is all about the basics for those of you new to the field of workers’ compensation and it provides a great foundation to build on as you develop your knowledge and skills and gain experience. The class is especially good for those of you in the field who don’t actually manage claims, such as nurses, human resources representatives, employers, vocational counselors, etc., because you will gain a basic understanding of claims management. It is also perfect for claims assistants, medical only examiners, and time loss examiners with less than three years experience. This is a training opportunity where you can feel free to ask questions without feeling like you should already know the answers! We expect that attendees are at the beginning of their learning process and the course is designed to get you started with accurate, current, and thorough material. For more information go to our website and then get registered today! ClaimsMgtSeries-promo-agenda-Fall2010
Our Complex Claims Management course will be held on November 15-16, 2010, at the same location. Our presenters are Craig Bock, Bock Consulting; Patty Hicks, Penser North America; and Kathryn Kunkler, Keehn Kunkler. We will also have a couple guest speakers: Don Grundl, Poth Investigations, and Scott Corwin, L & I’s Self-Insurance Unit. This is a class for experienced claims people who want to increase their knowledge and skills with regard to the complexities of claims management, such as returning permanently restricted employees to work, pensions, fraud, litigation and more. We expect attendees to have at least three years of experience due to the complicated topics we will be covering. Watch for more details on this course in my October column, weekly emails and on our website’s Training page.
Please do let me know if you have any questions or feedback regarding our training programs by emailing me at bonnie.prater@wsiassn.org.
Until October ...
