Coordinator's Corner

WSIA Training Coordinator
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to my first Training Coordinator’s Corner column since starting with WSIA on October 15th. I am very excited to take on this new role and experience yet another side of the workers’ compensation industry. Thanks to the WSIA team — Dave, Kaye and Bryan — for giving me such a warm welcome!
First, some background…I have been in the industry since 1986. Like many of you, I didn’t plan on a career in workers’ compensation, it just sort of happened. Over the years, I have experienced workers’ compensation from several perspectives: the self-insured employer, the TPA claims examiner, the broker’s claims consultant for state fund employers, and the workers’ compensation supervisor for a self-administered company.
During my career, I have been an active participant in WSIA and over the last year I have had the pleasure of serving as WSIA’s Region 1 Director and a Board Member. Now, as your new Training Coordinator, I have the honor representing your interests and helping to provide you with the best training and educational opportunities possible.
Currently, I am familiarizing myself with my new role, the programs in place, and the procedures involved in orchestrating them. I look forward to meeting or getting reacquainted with you at upcoming programs and conferences. Please email any comments, suggestions, or questions you may have to me at bonnie.prater@wsiassn.org.
