Hello WSIA Members!
Let’s talk about our Washington Workers’ Compensation Professional Self-Study Designation Program…
WWCP Statutory Requirements Self-Study On-line Course Available Soon!
As I indicated in my last article, my goal was to be able to offer the self-study version of the Statutory Requirements course by sometime in March. I am so excited to tell you that we did it! We have responded to your request for an on-line self study format for our WWCP Designation Program. Our webmaster is putting the finishing touches on the website registration page so the course will open for registration within a few days. I will send out an email announcement with the link when it is open for registration.
Here is the plan going forward...
WWCP Self-Study courses will run on a quarterly basis, beginning with Statutory Requirements being available for spring quarter. We will add Medical information to the summer quarter (June registration) and then Claims Management will be added to the fall quarter (August registration). Please note the summer quarter, as with college summer quarters, will be shorter.
You will work independently at your own pace…
The live courses are 12 weeks in length with a final exam on the 13th week. We have set up the self-study courses with a similar time frame in mind. If you register and start class soon after registration opens, you will have approximately12 weeks to complete the program prior to the final exam. However, registration will remain open until about a month prior to the final exam. If you register just before registration closes, you will have only about a month to complete all the coursework and prepare for the exam. It is important that everyone understands that the final exams will be scheduled once per quarter and all students taking a course that quarter must test on that date.
Yes, the final exam is still required…
Since we expect attendees from near and far, determining how to do the final examination was a challenge. We have decided to schedule proctored final exams in various locations, based on the addresses of the registered attendees, as of a set date each quarter. When registration closes, I will review the list of attendees and find testing locations convenient to the attendee addresses and schedule the exams. For example, say I have an attendee in Kirkland, WA and an attendee in Santa Ana, CA. I will schedule a proctored exam at a library or other testing facility in each city. Attendees will receive an email with the specifics regarding their final examination date, time and location once they have all been scheduled.
We have worked hard to offer this designation program with our members’ needs and convenience in mind. I hope this program meets all your expectations.
My thanks to Kari and Dave for all their help with self-study program!
Until April ...
