June 2011
Hello WSIA Members!
Hope you all have some vacation planned this summer to refresh and recharge…enjoy!
I will be taking some vacation starting next week to do just that. I expect to be very busy when I return, working on changes to training curriculum based on the recently passed workers’ compensation legislation. The WSIA Board of Directors Education Team and staff will be discussing these changes and how to best provide the membership with all this important information and training. Look for more details on this coming soon!
Here is an update on what is happening now…
WWCP Claims Management Course – the final chapter!
This final live WWCP course is wrapping up with the final exam on June 30th. As you know, we expect all future WWCP courses will be web-based self-study courses due to the saturation of the market for the live courses.
WWCP Summer Quarter Now Open for Registration - Statutory Requirements and Medical Information Self-Study On-line Courses
Registration is now open for the Summer Quarter for both these courses. Claims Management will be added Fall Quarter. If you are interested in obtaining or finishing your WWCP designation and have not yet taken Statutory Requirements or Medical Information, registration for this quarter will end on August 1 – register today!

IIU’s Advanced Webinars
Our advanced webinars are still available for purchase on our website. Webinars are a great way to get some education without the expense of travel. You can purchase these and archived webinars on our website’s Training Program page. Here is the link: Training Programs
Certification Review Course
We just completed our June class. My thanks to Kelly Early and ESD #113 for allowing us to use their beautiful new facility for this training. The next training will be coming up on September 19th and 20th, for the Department Certified Claims Administrator test being held on September 21st. The Department has not yet published the dates of the application period but will be sending out notice of these dates by July 1st. Watch your listserv emails for this important information. Remember, WSIA does the two day training course but the Department Training Unit manages the test process so make sure you get your test application in to them timely and then register with WSIA for the Cert Review Class! You can find the Department’s test application form in their website’s form section. This should be updated after July 1st with the application period information. Application for Self-Insurance Claims Administrator Test.
Program Management Course under Construction - Update
We are moving forward with development of a training course specifically for workers’ compensation program managers. A work group, co-chaired by WSIA President Katrina Zitnik and Terri Nienkark, is being formed to focus on this development. We hope to hold the first class in January. Stay tuned for more details in future columns and emails.
As always, if you are interested in being a facilitator or speaker or if you have an idea for a training program, let me hear from you! Email me at bonnie.prater@wsiassn.org.
Until next time...
