Hello Members!

I hope you are all enjoying the weather and getting out of the office for some outdoor recreation. It’s hard to believe that our fall training is about to start!  Here’s a peak at the upcoming training events…

Certification Review Class:  Our next class is coming up on September 13-14.  If you are scheduled to take the test, make sure you get registered for the review class now.  Remember…don’t take the test without taking the class!  Here is the link to register:

WWCP: The 2010-11 courses will begin with Statutory Requirements on September 7th.  The courses will be offered in Renton.

I know…you are wondering why there is just one class location, right?  There wasn’t enough interest in any one city to hold a remote class.  However, I do have exciting news!  We will be offering all three courses via on-line self-study this program year!  We anticipate the Statutory Requirements self-study course will be available by early 2011.  This will give those of you in remote areas and those unable to travel a chance to take the courses and obtain the Washington Workers’ Compensation Professional Designation.  Watch for more details on this exciting opportunity.

The Statutory Requirements course lays the groundwork for more specific issues covered in the subsequent courses. It addresses insurance concepts, RCW, WAC, Medical Aid Rules, L&I Policies, and more. The expectation is that individuals attending WWCP courses will have at least 3 years’ experience in the workers’ compensation field.  Here is the link to register for the live class:  http://www.wsiassn.org/public/WWCPStatutoryReq_fall2010.html

Webinars:  WSIA has recorded and archived all webinars offered live and all are available for purchase on our website.  I urge you to check these out if you were unable to attend the live webinars by going to the following link:

New Advanced Topic Webinars for 2010-11:  WSIA will be offering four more advanced topic webinars this program year.  We will be determining topics soon and plan to offer the webinars on a monthly basis from February through May.  If you have a topic suggestion, I would love to hear from you.  Please email me at bonnie.prater@wsiassn.org

Claims Training Series:  Our Introduction to Claims Management course will be held on October 11-12, 2010 at the Radisson Hotel in SeaTac.  This introductory class is a must for anyone with less than 3 years in the workers’ compensation field.  Our Complex Claims Management course will be held on November 15-16, 2010, at the same location.  This advanced course tackles the tough issues we see in complex claims and is a must for those with 3 or more years of experience in the field of workers’ compensation.  Watch for more details on these courses in my September column, weekly emails and on our website’s Training page.

Legal Workshop:  We will offer this very popular training program on October 21-22, 2010 at the Inn at Gig Harbor.  You don’t want to miss this one!  Watch for more details on these courses in my September column, weekly emails and on our website’s Training page

Please do let me know if you have any questions or feedback regarding our training programs by emailing me at bonnie.prater@wsiassn.org.

Until September ...
