Training
Coordinator's Corner

WSIA Training Coordinator
As you are probably aware my career with WSIA is ending this June. I’ve been with the Association since September 2001 and have enjoyed the opportunity to work with so many of you.
All of our efforts have had a very positive affect on WSIA’s training programs. Over the last 6 years we have:
- Introduced the Washington Workers Compensation Professional (WWCP) courses. We have over 100 graduates now.
- Established a new format for the annual Legal Issues Workshop.
- Expanded our claims training series from three to four days and now offer the program twice a year.
- Presented an annual “How to Self-Insure” workshop for current state fund employers.
- Introduced new technology by presenting our first "webinars" and using a video-conference format for some of the WWCP classes.
We have programs in the works that will continue to expand member benefits.
In September, WSIA is going to partner with the American Society of Safety Engineers and present a one-day professional development conference for safety professionals in both associations.
We are also working out the details on a program that will address “Key Talent Leader Development”. This type of program will help us identify future leaders in the workers’ compensation arena.
I don’t have space available to individually thank all of you that have helped me over the last six years, but I hope you all understand how much I appreciate the time and effort you have given to our training programs.
I know you will continue to support the Association by working closely with the new Training Coordinator. I’m sure he or she will welcome your assistance.
I look forward to see many of you at this year’s Annual Conference in Spokane.
